Dongfeng Renault K-ZE Traction Battery Removal/Installation and Motor-Reducer Separation Guide

Fault Background
The traction battery removal/installation procedure for the Dongfeng Renault K-ZE (manual 1692) follows the same safety process as manual 1691, but provides a more complete special tool list: traction battery service disconnect plug cover (E700101), traction battery high-voltage connector plug cover (E700102), traction battery lifting frame/hooks (E700509A/B), and a manual hydraulic lift cart (A60EV0105). The battery is secured with left/right mounting bolts M12×80 and front/rear mounting bolts M12×60 (16mm socket), and the ground strap retaining nuts are tightened to 9.5 N·m with a 10mm socket. For separating the motor and reducer assembly (self-developed motor), use 3 internal + 5 external M8×35 connecting bolts (12mm socket). Traction Battery Removal (9 Steps)
Protection: Place protective pads on the front fenders/front bumper/carpet (driver side)/steering wheel. Use insulated gloves and insulated tools throughout.
- Turn off the start switch and disconnect the negative battery cable;
- Remove the service disconnect switch → cover the service disconnect switch mounting hole with the E700101 plug cover (to prevent metal debris from entering and causing electrical faults);
- Disconnect 4 connectors: traction battery accessory high-voltage harness (release (A) lock clip → press (B) → press (C) to disconnect), vehicle low-voltage harness (release (D) lock clip → flip open (E) clip), fast-charge high-voltage harness (release lock clip → flip open retaining clip), and traction battery high-voltage harness (same method);
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the right ground strap retaining nut; repeat on the left side;
- Position the manual hydraulic lift cart (A60EV0105) under the traction battery;
- Use a 16mm socket to remove the left/right mounting bolts (M12×80) and front/rear mounting bolts (M12×60);
- Slowly lower the lift cart and remove the traction battery assembly;
- Protect the traction battery harness connectors (1) and (2) with the E700102 plug cover;
- Place the traction battery in the designated location.
Insulation Check and Transfer
Insulation check (before installation): With the insulation resistance tester (A60EV0104), connect the black test lead to the COM terminal, the red test lead to the insulation test terminal, and the other red test lead to the ground terminal and clamp it to ground; select the 500V insulation test range; clamp the black test lead to the housing, and use the red test lead to measure the insulation resistance of the 2 electrodes of the connector to the housing; press and hold the test button for 2 seconds until the reading stabilizes, then record—normal insulation resistance should be in the megohm range; if abnormal, do not install; find the cause or replace the part. Safety rules: Do not touch the test lead tips with your hands; the device under test must be de-energized and safely grounded; keep one hand away from other objects during measurement (to reduce current path through the chest/heart); stand on an insulating mat.
Transfer: Attach the traction battery lifting hooks (E700509[B]) to the threaded holes at the 4 corners of the battery → hang the lifting frame (E700509[A]) on the engine hoist → hook the 4 chains onto the lifting hooks → raise the engine hoist until the chains are taut, check that the connections are secure → lift further and move the traction battery to the workbench.
Traction Battery Installation (Reverse Order)
- Raise the vehicle to approximately 1m height;
- Roughly align the hydraulic lift cart with the alignment pins and mounting holes;
- Raise the traction battery, observing alignment with the alignment pins and mounting holes while lifting;
- Install the left/right mounting bolts (M12×80) and pre-tighten with a 16mm socket; install the front/rear mounting bolts (M12×60) and tighten to the specified torque with a 16mm socket;
- Align the left/right ground straps with the mounting studs, tighten the retaining nuts with a 10mm socket, torque to 9.5 N·m;
- Install the 4 connectors (accessory high-voltage/vehicle low-voltage/high-voltage/fast-charge high-voltage) until they latch securely;
- Install the service disconnect switch → connect the negative battery cable.
Motor and Reducer Assembly Separation (Self-Developed Motor)
Protection: Place protective pads on the front bumper/carpet (driver side)/shift lever.
Removal: First remove the powertrain assembly (refer to "Powertrain Assembly Removal and Installation · Self-Developed Motor") → use a 12mm socket to remove the 3 internal connecting bolts (M8×35) → use a 12mm socket to remove the 5 external connecting bolts (M8×35) → lift the reducer assembly out evenly upward—tilting it with force makes removal difficult; during removal, one person must assist in steadying the motor to prevent the motor from tipping or shifting, which could cause injury or motor damage.
Installation: ①Apply a suitable amount of grease to the drive motor output shaft joint; ②Fit the reducer assembly onto the motor, applying even force and rocking it side to side until seated; ③Tighten the 5 external + 3 internal M8×35 connecting bolts with a 12mm socket; ④Install the powertrain assembly.
